Eles são simplesmente os maiores.

O Jimmy Page é dos guitarristas mais originais de sempre, e exemplo disso é este vídeo.

O Robert Plant usa a sua voz como instrumento como poucos (o único que se equipara é o Thom Yorke).

O John Bonham é um baterista poderoso, com uma força que se faz sentir em cada música, mas muito particularmente na "Moby Dick" (link)

O John Paul Jones é dos melhores baixistas, mas mais discretos, de sempre.

Hoje vou fazer dois posts, que é para compensar o tempo que estive ausente...

Tendo em conta as minhas capacidades de dançarino super desenvolvidas (quase tão boas como as de cantor), aqui está a minha música preferida para dançar, de preferência com alguma nível de álcool no sangue...

Primeiro, peço desculpa (não que a tenham sentido) pela minha ausência. Muito especialmente, ao blogger do Irão que todos as semanas marca o ponto com a sua visita da praxe (isto é verdade, mas não faço puto de ideia de quem seja).

Para este desafio, tive que pensar bastante, e cheguei à triste conclusão de que não sei a letra de nenhuma música inteira. Portanto, se a vida fosse um campeonato de cantar com "la la la" no lugar das verdadeiras palavras e depois finalizar a frase com a última sílaba (a certa), eu seria um campeão, mas assim sendo é apenas isto que tenho para oferecer...

Não há palavras que descrevam o quanto esta música me irrita. Não é que seja horrível, mas foi uma desilusão para mim (tal como todos o álbum) e talvez por isso o sentimento de "recusa" seja maior do que o normal.

Porque é que eu adoro esta música? Primeiro que tudo são os Led Zeppelin, que são a minha banda favorita. Depois a música consegue fazer-me sentir um bocadinho de tudo, se bem que na maioria é tristeza. O solo de guitarra no meio da música é dos melhores que o Jimmy Page alguma vez fez. E os "combates" entre a voz do Robert Plant, cheia de amargura, e a guitarra do J.P., são perfeitos.

Quando descubro estas coisas, prontamente exclamo "Challenge Accepted"...

#5.1 - músicas na minha vida

Depois de "explorar" um pouco as músicas de Gil Scott-Heron, através de algum "youtube" e downloads ilegais de cds ("shiuuuuuu"), avancei para a recriação do Jamie xx...

Como se esperava, tendo em conta o trabalho dos "The xx" e os remixes que ele fez anteriormente (por exemplo da "Rolling in the Deep" da Adele - link), fez um excelente trabalho, dando um toque do "London underground" à voz do Gil Scott-Heron. 

Gostei bastante do resultado final.

De destacar que durante todo o processo, os dois apenas trocaram alguma correspondência, uma vez que o veterano não utiliza email, mas que serviu mais para pedido de autorização e respectivo concedimento, do que troca de ideias, e ainda que se tenham encontrado algumas vezes em concertos e tenham falado, muito pouco foi sobre o que o Jamie estava a fazer.

Destaco a "I'll Take Care of U":

#5 - músicas na minha vida

Esta manhã, enquanto lia a "Ípsilon" deparei-me com o artigo sobre o CD "I'm New Here" do Gil Scott-Heron (de quem nunca tinha ouvido falar) que o Jamie, dos The xx, recriou, e está agora no mercado.

Fiquei curioso, mas achei por bem começar por conhecer, primeiro, a obra do Gil Scott-Heron e só depois ouvir essa "recriação".

E foi com isto que me deparei: 

Um homem de 61 anos de Chicago, músico e poeta, com uma história de álbuns, semi-cantados semi-declamados, em que o soul-rap-jazz estão sempre presentes.

A obra dele é vastíssima, mas do pouco que ouvi, destaco:

• A música com que ele começa o seu primeiro álbum.  

"The Revolution Will Not Be Televised" do álbum "Small Talk At 125th And Lenox (1970)"

• A minha preferida...

"Ain't No Such Thing As Superman" do álbum "The First Minute of a New Day" (1975)

• Uma das suas mais conhecidas músicas de "intervenção"...

"Bullets on Parade" by Noiserv

É verdade minha gente, este Senhor é português. E reparem, que não escrevo com "S" por acaso, ele é mesmo um senhor com "s" grande, e de seu nome David Santos.

Adoro as música dele. Com pequenas e simples "layers" simples, loop após loop, vai criando algo tão criativo quanto belo.

Nesta música em particular, adoro o pormenor da máquina fotográfica.

"Between The Bars" by Elliott Smith

Descobri o Sr. Elliott Smith, e as suas músicas, há pouco tempo. 

Mas facilmente me rendi à sua voz suave, calma e sussurrada.

As músicas são bastante simples e as letras muito boas.

Esta é um belo exemplo, mas também há a "Miss Misery, a "Say Yes", entre outras.
